Last week, the Association of Farm & Forestry Contractors caught up with one of their long time members, Gaffey Bros in Moate, Westmeath.

Since James and Francie Gaffey established the company back in the late 80s, Gaffey Bros have been providing an exceptional contracting service to farmers in the region for over 35 years.

The contracting business came from humble beginnings, starting out with a Massey Ferguson 35 tractor, a Zetor 8111 tractor, a Massey Ferguson finger bar mower and a hay turner back in the late 1980s.

Despite the sad passing of Francie 5 years ago, the business continues to the grow with the continued help of James along with his nephew David Tyrell.

Gaffey Bros make up to 14,000 silage bales a year, including bales they sell to customers from 200 acres they rent.
